Srey Ly

Abandoned by her parents, this little girl Srey Ly was sent out nightly by her grandmother into the harsh exploitative environment of Cambodian nightlife to wander in search of a few dollars through begging.  Our groups would stumble upon her and feed her and then escort her home with a couple of dollars so she could stay off the streets and out of the crosshairs of the predators who roam the streets. She would often only eat a few bites of her meal so she had enough to take home and share with her grandmother – the same one sending this vulnerable young girl out into a tremendously harsh world in darkness.  Attempts were made to enroll her in school but they fell apart as support from her grandmother was not possible.
